Road Trip Planning

When people go on vacation, they very rarely don’t have a plan. However, there are those people that decide, on a half thought out and generally hurried idea, that they want to go somewhere for their vacation. In most of these cases they don’t choose to fly or take another option for mass transit, like a bus or a train, but instead to go on a road trip.

The road trip is the quintessential American vacation. Since people began driving, there have been people that have taken their cars as far as the roads will take them and, sometimes, even too far beyond that. Unlike flying or taking a bus or train though, road trips generally require a good deal more forethought as you are the one that has to get from point a to point b and then back home in the end.

Because of the planning that is necessary, it is important that you go about it in a very methodical (to avoid going over the same things), and organized way. Organization can go a long way when planning a road trip, not just in the planning process, but also in how you setup your vehicle for the drive and, also, where you intend to drive to and what you want to see on the way. By taking things to the next level in an organizational sense, it can make the whole trip a huge success; whereas a lack of planning and organization could lead to a disaster.

Nevertheless, just because you want to have a plan and know what you’re doing, half of the fun and almost the whole point of a road trip is to exert your freedom. This means that too much planning can also be a bad thing by getting in the way of the fun of the adventure.
